And here we go! I’m so happy to announce my very first solo exhibition, Histoires urbaines (Urban stories)!

Histoires urbaines - Povesti urbane

While I’ve already participated in a few group exhibitions, even in some very prestigious ones, it’s always something else to have your own exhibition. It will showcase 30 of my best street photos. Some can already be seen on this website in my Streets portfolio, but also a few new ones that were kept for the event.

I really like the fact that this exhibition is happening in Cluj-Napoca. This is where is has all started, where I first took my camera and started wandering the streets. It seems right to me that my first solo event starts there… and hopefully it’ll continue somewhere else!

The exhibition will take place at the French Institute (Institut Français) at la Cave, their own art dedicated space… in a cave! So if you come by Cluj between June 28th and July 20th, don’t miss the cultural event of the year 😉

And I’ll be there for the opening on the 28th. See you there, I hope!

Strangers in the Dark XXVII - Austerlitz train station. Paris, France, 2018.

The Austerlitz train station is Paris, France, is undergoing some very serious works in order to get modernized, and also extended with four new platforms that has been finished a few months ago. This newer section of the station features a much more modern design than the 1840 architecture of the main building. It really offers some great lines and lights for the photographer 🙂

A glimpse of light. Orléans, France, 2017.

A glimpse of light. Orléans, France, 2017. Get a print!

Having moved backed in France, it’s a new playground for me. I know Orléans, my home town, quite well, of course. But as my passion for photography has developed when I was abroad, it is the first time I roam in its street with the eye of a photographer. And trust me, it’s a beautiful city! It’s amazing to figure out how my perception of things has changed…

Orléans being a medieval city (you all know Joan of Arc, right ?), its historic center is a maze of narrow streets with old but tall houses close the ones to the others. And when the sun sets, it’s the occasion for its rays to light up those streets like they’re on fire, while others are in a deep shadow. A glimpse of light. This is the approach I’ve taken for my first photo in Orléans.

Another night at my favourite train station. This time I let the station’s dock in peace for a dive in its underground passages. It’s a good spot to get some low angles shots, with people going down the stairs.

I really like this photo. The light from the dock creates a great backlighting effect, anonymising the subject, making her almost disappearing in the shadows if the stairs if it wasn’t for the glow of her hairs. She almost seems… unreal.
