Signatech Alpine #36

This Signatech Alpine #36 photo is one of my favorite shot of the Le Mans 24H 2019. It was taken with a very slow shutter speed of 1/5s in order to get that awesome panning effect. I took the photo from the grand stand, in front of the pits, just after the start line.

Processing this photo was not that easy, but the Lutify.me* Morpheus LUT was a good starting point.

The Signatech Alpine #36 was driven by André Negrao, Nicolas Lapierre and Pierre Thiriet. It has finished 6th at the general, which made this car the winner of the LMP2 category.

Rebellion Racing #3 - 24H du Mans 2019

My first Le Mans 24H! What an experience! Such a blast! Lots of cars with a fabulous sound, a raging race (thanks to the GTE Pro), I am in love!

Once again, the fences were quite the challenge, that I could partly overcome using the space for the pro photographers, some optical tricks and a bit of gym. I really hope I’ll get an accreditation soon…

Can’t wait for next year to be there!

Daniel Abt - ABB FIA Formula E - Paris - 2019

Daniel Abt – Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler

Let’s go to Paris for the 8th round of the 2018-2019 season of Formula E in Paris, on the Invalides circuit. The main particularity of the Formula E championship, besides having a great panel of drivers, is to regroup around electric single seaters some of the largest car manufacturers in the world:  BMW, Audi, Nissan, Venturi, DS, NIO, with Porsche and Mercedes joining next year.

The 2018-2019 Formula E season is very peculiar as  we’ve had 7 drivers from 7 different team winning the first 7 races, with also 7 different polemen. A first !

The Paris round has been won by Robert Frijns, which make it the 8th winner in 8 rounds. It as also been the very first race to happen under the rain. I was really well seated at the end of the main straight, and could witness one of the craziest races ever. However taking photos from the spectators seating has not been easy because of the fences, the trees, the speakers, the lamp posts and the smartphones… I needed to be creative!

Championnat de Ligue du Centre Val de Loire - Cap Karting, Mer, 10 mars 2019. https://pierrepichot.com https://www.facebook.com/pierrepichotmotorsport https://instagram.com/pierrepichotmotorsport

Back on karting for the second round of the Ligue du Centre Val de Loire championship at Cap Karting on March 31st, 2019. Unlike the first round, it was sunny all day… and I even got a beautiful sunrise during the very laps of the day!

Always try something new was the title of one of my articles a year ago. I’m true to my words, it’s time for me to reshuffle things a bit!

I’ve always been very passionate about motorsport. Since I was a kid I’ve always watched all the races I could that were on TV. Now with internet it’s racing fest almost every week-end! So why not merging my “old” motorsport passion with my “new” photography love into one?

That’s what I will be doing in 2019. Being in Romania for 10+ years didn’t help as motorsports are quite marginal there. But here in France, it’s already something much more reachable. I’ve just become the official photographer for a local karting track. The first step to something, hopefully, big!

It doesn’t mean I’ve stopped shooting the streets and the city, far from that. On the contrary, with a fresher perspective, it can only help with creativity. Heck, I’ve even started shooting the streets in colors during my last trip to Bucharest! Much more to come later on…
