Run! Bucharest, Romania, 2016.

I took this photo in Bucharest in October 2016. I met there a local group of street photographers, and we decided to go for a photowalk at night. We went by Piata Unirii (Union Square), known for its large shops with loads of lights. A perfect place to play at night! There, we found this renewed underground exit, that became our main shooting spot for the evening. Reflective marble, bright lights, strong contrast with the night, what to ask more?

I know what to ask more! An interesting subject, to fill these stairs! For this poor man in hurry, it was not just a matter of fighting these stairs between him and the outside, he also had to go through a herd of crazy photographers 🙂

Anyway, it was a fun night, and I hope I’ll be back soon to meet again with this awesome group!

Strangers in the dark VII. Cluj-Napoca station, Romania.

Strangers in the Dark VII. Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 2016. Get a print.

I love shooting in the dark. I love train station. I love street photography. I love contrast. I love lines. I love curves. I love shooting strangers. I love the night. I love black & white. And if I can put everything in one single frame, I’m the happiest photographer in the world 🙂 This photo has been shot at the Cluj-Napoca train station during last winter, on a tripod. It’s a long exposure (2 seconds), giving me this incredible atmosphere.

I must say I’m quite proud of this photo, which has been published on 1x.com (not an easy task!) and will be also published in several expositions this year!

Shot with a Canon 6D then process in black and white with Adobe Lightroom and Nik Collection Silver Efex.

Shibuya crossing, Tokyo, Japan.

Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo, Japan. License it.

While in Tokyo, Shibuya and its well known crosswalk was a mandatory stop for me. As everyone travelling in Japan I think 🙂 It’s is such an incredible atmosphere: while everything and everyone is very, VERY quiet, you find yourself in a place where tens of ads broadcasted on tens of huge screens shout at you at an incredibly high volume. It’s pretty dazzling at first! Then you get used to it and enjoy an incredible place with a moving crowd and, in my case, a sunset like I’ve rarely seen before.

I had to use my tripod for this kind of longer exposure shot, so that I can get the people’s movement. Thanks to everyone that managed to avoid me, this damn gaijin blocking the way! It really reflects the respect oriented mentality of Japanese people, I’m pretty sure I would have not been able to do the same shot here in Europe.

I used Macphun Tonality CK for turning this photo in Black and White. That’s an amazing software that I will write more about further on.

Public transportation. Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

While I’m not a fan of winter (damn slippy snow!), I like how the people’s attitude changes. More melancholy. It reflects quite well when you look at the people in public transportation – buses, metro, tramways – that have that look in their eyes. Not necessarily sad, more like if they were looking at something that doesn’t exist… This photo was taken during a cold evening in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

I did the shot with a Fujifilm X100T, processed with Adobe Lightroom. Here again the fantastic Monochrome profile from Fujifilm and the relatively low noise in high ISO made my day. I just did a bit of dodge & burn to raise the contrast, and that’s it!
