Shibuya crossing, Tokyo, Japan.

Shibuya Crossing, Tokyo, Japan. License it.

While in Tokyo, Shibuya and its well known crosswalk was a mandatory stop for me. As everyone travelling in Japan I think 🙂 It’s is such an incredible atmosphere: while everything and everyone is very, VERY quiet, you find yourself in a place where tens of ads broadcasted on tens of huge screens shout at you at an incredibly high volume. It’s pretty dazzling at first! Then you get used to it and enjoy an incredible place with a moving crowd and, in my case, a sunset like I’ve rarely seen before.

I had to use my tripod for this kind of longer exposure shot, so that I can get the people’s movement. Thanks to everyone that managed to avoid me, this damn gaijin blocking the way! It really reflects the respect oriented mentality of Japanese people, I’m pretty sure I would have not been able to do the same shot here in Europe.

I used Macphun Tonality CK for turning this photo in Black and White. That’s an amazing software that I will write more about further on.

Public transportation. Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

While I’m not a fan of winter (damn slippy snow!), I like how the people’s attitude changes. More melancholy. It reflects quite well when you look at the people in public transportation – buses, metro, tramways – that have that look in their eyes. Not necessarily sad, more like if they were looking at something that doesn’t exist… This photo was taken during a cold evening in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

I did the shot with a Fujifilm X100T, processed with Adobe Lightroom. Here again the fantastic Monochrome profile from Fujifilm and the relatively low noise in high ISO made my day. I just did a bit of dodge & burn to raise the contrast, and that’s it!

Stairs. Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Shot in the stairs just after I parked in my usual parking spot, going to work… Any place is a great spot for photography if you can find a graphical element in it.

As for the processing, I just added a bit of clarity in Adobe Lightroom… and that’s all. This is actually a JPEG direct from my new Fujifilm X100T! I’ve been shooting JPEG in the last few days and it gives me awesome results.

A building in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, nicknamed as the "Half Moon" because of its shape.

The “Half Moon” is the nickname of an office and residential building in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It is nicknamed this way because of its shape… which is more of a quarter of a moon 🙂 Well… never mind… It is one of the very first shots I did with my Fujifilm X100T and it looks fantastic with the Black & White with red filter setting, giving an awesome fine art architecture look with no effort. I just did a bit of dodge and burn in Adobe Lightroom in order to raise the contrast.
